At a meeting with press agencies on February 25 of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering (Ministry of National Defense), Colonel Pham Trung Kien - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering - said that in 2024, the Army will implement the adjustment of force organization according to the Resolution of the Politburo and the Central Military Commission.
Implementing Resolution No. 05 dated January 17, 2022 of the Politburo; Resolution No. 230 dated April 2, 2022 of the Central Military Commission; Plan No. 1228 of the Ministry of National Defense on the organization of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) for the period 2021-2030 and the following years, on January 24, 2025, the Minister of National Defense signed Decision No. 366 on merging the General Department of Logistics, the General Department of Engineering and reorganizing it into the General Department of Logistics - Engineering.
The General Department of Logistics and Engineering is a strategic advisory agency, assisting the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Minister of National Defense in leading, directing, and managing the State in logistics and engineering work in the Vietnam People's Army and the Militia. Direct the Logistics and Technical sector of the entire army to carry out the contents of logistics and technical work in the Vietnam People's Army and the Militia and Self-Defense Forces according to the Charter of Logistics and Technical Work of the Vietnam People's Army and the Charter of Technical Work of the Vietnam People's Army.
The General Department of Logistics and Engineering has 32 affiliated units (3 agencies; 7 specialized departments; 5 schools; 3 hospitals; 12 factories, enterprises, companies, general companies; 2 research and design institutes).
Of which, there are 82 grassroots units, stationed in over 31 provinces and cities across the country; many units are stationed in remote areas, with many difficulties in socio-economic conditions, and a unique, dangerous, arduous, and toxic working environment.
At the meeting, Lieutenant General Do Van Thien - Political Commissar of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering - said that in 2024, the Army will resolutely adjust the organization of forces in the direction of streamlining, compactness, and strength; the completion of the merger of logistics and technical agencies at all levels has set new requirements for the Army's logistics and technical work as well as ideological, organizational, personnel, and policy work.
According to the Political Commissar of the General Department of Logistics and Engineering, in the first months of 2025, immediately after announcing the Decision on merger and reorganization, the agencies have done a good job of political and ideological education, maintaining stability in all aspects, and ensuring safe units; continuing to effectively implement the task of ensuring military logistics and engineering;
Strictly maintain combat readiness regime, work regime regime regime regime regime; complete system of regulations, processes, and regulations. The General Department maintains political stability.
Cadres, party members, and the masses have strong political will, work with peace of mind, clearly define their responsibilities, and be ready to carry out tasks when organizing assignments, ensuring better and more effective work quality after the merger.
