This afternoon (February 20), Politburo member and President Luong Cuong worked with the Ministry of National Defense on the results of implementing Resolution 05-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the organization of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) for the period 2021-2030 and the following years, according to VNA.
On the side of the Ministry of National Defense, there were General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet - Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; heads of units of the Ministry of National Defense.
At the meeting, General Nguyen Tan Cuong - Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense - reported on the results of the implementation of Resolution 050.
In recent times, deeply appreciating the Party's policies and viewpoints on building a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern People's Army, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have resolutely directed the adjustment of the force organization in a systematic and scientific manner; both drawing experience and adjusting the Plan appropriately. Closely combine organizational work with policy work and ideological work, creating consensus throughout the army; not affecting the regular and ad hoc political tasks of agencies and units.
Along with that, the Ministry of National Defense dissolved and merged a number of affiliated agencies and units, and established a number of new units. Adjust the organization of agencies and units from the Ministry's level to the campaign and tactical level, with a synchronous and reasonable structure between components and forces, without overlap in functions and tasks; reduce intermediary units and service units, ensure.
Adjust the arrangement of troops in all three regions of the North, Central and South in all five combat airspace. At the same time, strengthen the construction of the military zone defense posture; build provinces and centrally run cities into solid defense areas in the new situation; increase the number of troops for newly established units, units with training tasks, and be ready to fight in key strategic areas, borders, seas, islands, etc.

After listening to the opinions of the delegates, President Luong Cuong expressed his high agreement with the opinions, and highly appreciated and commended the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense for their profound application of Resolution 05-NQ/TW and the direct direction of the General Secretary and Secretary of the Central Military Commission.
The President pointed out that by the end of 2024, the Vietnam People's Army organization has been basically streamlined, compact, and strong; has a synchronous and reasonable organizational structure among components and forces; and is 1 year ahead of schedule compared to the target set by Resolution No. 05-NQ/TW. The process of implementing major staff adjustment, there is attention to resolving reasonable policies and regimes, creating high unity among officers and soldiers of the entire army.
President Luong Cuong suggested that in the coming time, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense need to study and review the country's situation in the context of strong development and prepare to organize Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress. At the same time, assess the current world situation to make proposals and recommendations on continuing to implement Resolution No. 05-NQ/TW appropriately; continue to excellently complete the functions and tasks of the fighting army, working army, and production labor army.
The President emphasized that the army needs to be exemplary in thoroughly grasping and concretizing the requirements of the Politburo and the Central Executive Committee on continuing to implement Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, building a lean, compact, strong, efficient, effective and efficient political system; arranging and adjusting the merger of organizations with similar functions and tasks to ensure streamlining, compactness and strength; implementing the principle that one agency performs many tasks, one task is only assigned to one agency to preside over implementation and take primary responsibility. At the same time, based on functions and tasks to have solutions to handle all situations; maintain the principle of organizing the Party's leadership; ensure the absolute and direct leadership of the Party in all aspects of the Vietnam People's Army.
