According to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal on October 3, this agency has just responded to voters' petitions to have policies for people with meritorious services who are martyrs.
The Ministry of National Defense said that it received a petition from voters in Nghe An province sent by the National Assembly's Committee for Petition and Supervision, with the content: "Voters in Hamlets 1 and 3 of Nghi Loc Commune, Nghe An Province, reported that the martyr has been recognized by the State but has not yet enjoyed the regimes and policies. Propose to study and submit to the Government to issue policies for people with meritorious services who are martyrs, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and the attention and gratitude of the Party and State for those who sacrificed for the cause of defending the Fatherland".
Regarding this proposal, the Ministry of National Defense said that according to the provisions of the Ordinance on Preferential treatment for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution in 2020, Decree No. 131/2021/ND-CP dated December 30, 2021 of the Government detailing and measures to implement the Ordinance on Preferential treatment for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution, Circular No. 55/2022/TT-BQP dated July 27, 2022 of the Minister of National Defense guiding the process of recognizing and implementing preferential regimes for people with meritorious services to the Revolution under the responsibility of the Ministry of National Defense, only in cases where the deceased is eligible and recognized as a martyr are relatives eligible for preferential regimes and policies for people with meritorious services to the Revolution;
In cases where the deceased is not recognized as a martyr, the relatives are not eligible for preferential regimes and policies for people with meritorious services to the revolution according to the above documents.
"Therefore, voters propose that the Government issue a policy for people with meritorious services who are martyrs in general (including martyrs who are not recognized as martyrs) which is not in accordance with the current law on incentives for people with meritorious services to the revolution" - the Ministry of National Defense affirmed.
However, the Ministry of National Defense said that it will take note of the above petition of voters; in the coming time, it will coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and relevant ministries and branches to study and propose amendments and supplements to Decree No. 02/2020/UBTVQH14 and Decree No. 131/2021/ND-CP of the Government.
