Thanh Hoa receives international emergency aid for storm areas

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has signed a decision approving the aid from international organizations to overcome the damage caused by the storm.

On September 24, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province issued a decision to receive an emergency international aid worth 2.1 billion VND sponsored by save the Children International (SCI) to provide relief to households in Yen Nhan, Xuan Chinh, Kim Tan after storm No. 5 (Kajiki).

The total amount to directly support households with children is 1.9 billion VND. The total amount for the management and implementation of project activities is: 200 million VND.

The total number of households expected to receive support is from 350 - 400 depending on the support level, specifically as follows: For households with 02 - 03 people, they will receive 3 million VND, including 2 million VND to support the family in regular expenses (buy food, food, other living expenses) and 1 million VND for the household to buy school supplies for children according to needs.

For households with 04 - 07 members, 5 million VND will be received; For households with 08 members or more, 7 million VND will be received.

The recent storm No. 5 (Kajiki) accompanied by heavy rain caused widespread flooding in the western part of Thanh Hoa, many households in Yen Nhan, Xuan Chinh, Kim Tan had their houses damaged, and lost their rice and livelihoods. Many children are in difficult circumstances, lacking basic necessities and learning tools.

In Vietnam, SCI has been operating since 1990, implementing many projects on education, child protection and natural disaster response. This aid is to help children and families in Thanh Hoa soon stabilize their lives and recover after the storm.
