HCMC - On July 9, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense chaired the Conference to hand over the position of Commander of Military Region 7.

Attending the conference were comrades: Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Lieutenant General Truong Thien To, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; Heads of General Departments, functional agencies of the Ministry of National Defense; Heads of the Military Region 7 Command and agencies, units and localities under the Military Region.

Pursuant to Decision No. 1405/QD-TTg, dated June 28, 2025 of the Prime Minister on the appointment of Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Commander of Military Region 7 to hold the position of Deputy Minister of National Defense; Pursuant to Decision No. 1406/QD-TTg, dated June 28, 2025 of the Prime Minister on the appointment of Major General Le Xuan The, Deputy Commander of Military Region 7 to hold the position of Commander of Military Region 7. At the conference, Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang handed over the position of Commander of Military Region 7 to Major General Le Xuan The.

At the conference, representatives of the Military Region 7 Command reported, approved the handover minutes and listened to the discussions. Speaking at the handover ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders of the Party, State, Government, Central Military Commission, Ministry of National Defense, agencies and affiliated units; and at the same time sent his thanks to the Party Committee, the Military Region 7 Command, officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces (LLVT) of the Military Region as well as leaders of Party committees, authorities and people of localities in the Military Region for accompanying and supporting him throughout his work.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang affirmed that being appointed as Deputy Minister of National Defense is a great honor and a noble responsibility assigned by the Party, State and Army. In his new position, he will continue to strive to study, practice, and devote himself to completing all assigned tasks well.

Speaking on receiving the assignment, Major General Le Xuan The expressed his gratitude to the Central Military Commission Standing Committee, the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the agencies of the Ministry of National Defense and the Party Committee - Military Region 7 Command for always paying attention, monitoring, creating favorable conditions and trusting to propose the Prime Minister to appoint a new position. Major General Le Xuan The affirmed that in his new position, he will always be absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the People; continue to strive to cultivate and practice moral qualities and political courage; promote the spirit of innovation, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility for the common interests of the Military Region's Armed Forces.

Comrade Pham pledged to work with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and the Military Region Command to preserve internal solidarity, inherit and promote the valuable results and experiences of previous generations, build a clean and strong Military Region 7 Party Committee; a comprehensively strong and "exemplary, typical" armed forces.

Speaking at the conference, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Minister of National Defense, highly appreciated the great contributions of Lieutenant General Nguyen Truong Thang and the Vietnamese army of Military Region 7 over the past time. The Minister hopes that the foundations that have been built will be the driving force for Military Region 7 to continue to successfully complete military - defense tasks, Party work, political work, logistics, engineering and other fields in the coming time.
