The City People's Committee Party Committee has 123 affiliated grassroots Party organizations. Including 81 grassroots party committees and 42 grassroots party cells with 15,938 party members.
In the 2020 - 2025 term, the Party Committee will pay special attention to building politics, ideology, ethics, organization and staff. Party committees at all levels proactively issue thematic resolutions, effectively implement training and fostering plans for cadres, improve political mettle, leadership capacity and fighting strength of Party members.
The implementation of the responsibility of setting an example, ethical standards and party discipline has been strictly implemented, contributing to improving the effectiveness of leadership and management, while preventing corruption and waste.
In the field of socio-economic development, the city has achieved a fairly high growth rate, the scale of the economy continues to expand, and labor productivity increases. Processing industry, trade - services, high-tech agriculture have developed stably. The investment and business environment has improved; the provincial competitiveness index (PCI) of the three localities (Can Tho, Hau Giang, Soc Trang) is ranked in the group quite highly. The city is stepping up the implementation of digital transformation in all fields.
Infrastructure, education, healthcare, culture, sports and environment are invested in and improved in quality. Social security work, ensuring the rights of ethnic minorities, meritorious people, and poor households are implemented promptly.
The city maintains political stability, social order and safety, closely combining socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security. International cooperation has been expanded, attracting investment, cultural exchanges and promoting the image of the locality to the world.
For the 2025 - 2030 term, the Party Committee set out 29 targets, 5 key tasks and 3 breakthroughs. In which, the goal is set to strive to build Can Tho City into a growth pole of the country by 2030, playing the role of driving development, spreading, and leading the whole region.
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Do Thanh Binh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee proposed that the Party Committee of the City People's Committee clearly identify the specific position and functions, focus on leadership closely following political tasks, proactively and promptly advising, contributing to improving the leadership capacity, fighting strength of the Party organization and management effectiveness.
Continue to build a clean and strong Party and political system; uphold principles, strengthen inspection, supervision, and prevent degradation; innovate leadership methods, improve the quality of cadres, especially the younger generation in the digital age.
Focus on effectively implementing the 4 "pillar" resolutions of the Central Committee on science - technology and digital transformation; international integration; innovation in law-making and enforcement; development of the private economy. Improve the quality and ethics of public service; build civilized offices; prevent and combat corruption and waste; reform administration, promote digital transformation to serve people and businesses.
In terms of economy, advise on sustainable development, economic - cultural - environmental balance, take people as the center, strive for Can Tho to become a national growth pole by 2030. Unblock bottlenecks, develop synchronous and modern infrastructure; take science - technology, innovation, digital transformation as driving force; train high-quality human resources, attract talent. At the same time, promote the fight against corruption, strengthen national defense and security, maintain stability for development.
