Very fundamental requirements for cadres and party members
Party members must live with ideals, be responsible to the Party, to the Fatherland, to the People; know how to put common interests first and foremost; the higher the position, the more humble, clean, and responsible they must be; the more power they have, the more they must bind themselves to discipline, morality, honor and the interests of the People" - General Secretary and President To Lam mentioned this message at the Awarding ceremony of Party Badges to veteran Party members of the Hanoi Party Committee, on May 19.

The message of General Secretary and President To Lam received the attention of many officials and party members, including requirements for personnel work.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son - Member who is a full-time National Assembly Deputy at the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Society, the message "the higher the position, the more humble, clean, and responsible you must be" in the speech of General Secretary and President To Lam needs to be seen as a very fundamental requirement for the contingent of cadres and party members in the context that the country is entering a new era of development - an era of aspirations for strength, prosperity, civilization, and happiness.
This is a time when Vietnam is facing very great opportunities, but also facing unprecedented challenges. Institutional innovation, streamlining the apparatus, digital transformation, developing science and technology, building a self-reliant economy, improving national competitiveness, developing Vietnamese culture and people... all require a modern, effective, incorruptible and people-centered governance.
In that context, the qualities of cadres and party members, especially cadres holding leadership and management positions, become a decisive condition to turn the right line into the right action, turn major policies into specific results in people's lives.
The higher the position, the more a cadre should not be complacent, distant from the people, bureaucratic or see power as a privilege. The higher the position, the greater the responsibility; the greater the power, the stricter the self-binding by discipline, morality, honor and the interests of the people.
Humility is to know how to listen, learn from practice, know how to put oneself under the supervision of organizations and people. Cleanliness is not to be dominated by personal interests, group interests, not to let power be degenerate. Responsibility is to ensure that each decision is aimed at the highest goal: the country develops, people are prosperous, free, and happy" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Hoai Son shared.
Spreading the spirit of responsibility, setting an example
Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc - Deputy Chairman of the Advisory Council on Culture and Society, Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front - said that the speech of General Secretary and President To Lam when awarding Party Badges to veteran Party members has drawn many important lessons about the spirit of responsibility, the exemplary role of generations of cadres and Party members in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland. These are also qualities necessary for cadres and Party members in the new era.

According to Dr. Nguyen Viet Chuc, the speech of General Secretary and President To Lam also clearly stated the spirit of exemplary responsibility - something our Party has repeatedly emphasized in resolutions and regulations on building and rectifying the Party.
The message of General Secretary and President To Lam is not only a thank you, drawing lessons from veteran Party members but also a reminder to cadres and Party members in life, in performing their duties" - Dr. Chuc emphasized.
He also expressed his expectation that the spirit of setting an example will spread to all cadres and party members at all levels. "Hopefully that all cadres and party members will match words with deeds. If "the top is hot but the bottom is cold", and people are still harassed, it cannot be called a serving administration, cadres and party members must be imbued with that spirit.
