On the evening of May 18, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai city organized a ceremony to announce the National Assembly's Resolution on the establishment of Dong Nai city.

At the ceremony, Mr. Phan Chi Hieu, Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Law and Justice Committee announced Resolution No. 30/2026/QH16 of the National Assembly on the establishment of Dong Nai city. Dong Nai city was established on the basis of the entire natural area and population size of Dong Nai province.
Dong Nai City borders Ho Chi Minh City, Lam Dong province, Tay Ninh province and the Kingdom of Cambodia. Dong Nai City has a natural area of 12,737.18 km2, a population size of 4,491,408 people and has 95 commune-level administrative units (33 wards and 62 communes).
At the ceremony, Head of the Central Emulation and Commendation Committee Pham Huy Giang announced Decision No. 603/QD-CTN dated April 30, 2026 of the President on awarding the First-class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Nai city for their outstanding achievements in socio-economic development, contributing to the cause of building socialism and protecting the Fatherland.
The award of the First-class Labor Medal is recognition and commendation from the Party and State for the great contributions of the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Nai throughout the process of construction, development and integration.
Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary and President To Lam requested the Party Committee, Government, armed forces, business community and people of Dong Nai city to join hands to well implement major orientations, build a new Dong Nai aspiration within the stature of a centrally-run city; build a city for people.
Dong Nai needs to better care for jobs, housing, schools, hospitals, cultural institutions, public space, living environment, especially for workers, laborers, people in remote areas, difficult areas, border areas and vulnerable groups.
The Politburo believes that with the bravery of a land rich in traditions, with the creativity of a dynamic economic center, with the spirit of solidarity, discipline, affection and aspiration to rise up, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Dong Nai city will build a rapid, sustainable, civilized, modern city, worthy of being a centrally-run city and an important growth pole in the Southeast region and the whole country.
At the Ceremony to announce the National Assembly's Resolution on the establishment of Dong Nai city, the art epic program Dong Nai - Southern Spirit, reaching out to the country also took place. The program was elaborately and large-scale staged, recreating the 328-year journey of formation and development of Dong Nai land (1698-2026).
