At 4:15 p.m. on August 6, local time (the same evening of the day Vietnam time), the plane carrying Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport in Luanda, starting a state visit to the Republic of Angola at the invitation of President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco and his wife.
Welcoming President Luong Cuong and his wife Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Quatro de Fevereiro International Airport on the left hand of Angola were Minister of Foreign Affairs Tete Antonio; Ambassador of Angola to Vietnam Fernando Miguel Miguel; Provincial Governor Luanda Luis Manuel da Fonseca; Director of the Department of State New Rites, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jorge Pactive.
On the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to Angola Duong Chinh Chuc; and officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola.
President Luong Cuong's visit to Angola is an important event, taking place right at the time the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (November 12, 1975-11, 2025), thereby contributing to promoting cooperation between the two countries in the coming time, opening a new period of development in bilateral relations.
Along with that, the visit of the President also demonstrated Vietnam's attachment to Angola, both affirming the loyal and iron relationship formed and fostered during the period of national liberation struggle, and being an opportunity for the two countries to exchange directions and measures to bring the relationship to a new height in a more substantial, effective and sustainable direction, meeting the needs of development and international integration in the new situation of each country.
During the visit, President Luong Cuong is expected to hold high-level talks with President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco; meet with National Assembly Chairman Carolina Cerqueira; work with leaders of the People's Liberation Movement of Angola; meet with the Vietnamese community in Angola and attend the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In particular, the President will deliver an important speech to the Angola National Assembly, thereby conveying the policy message about a Vietnam that wishes to make greater contributions to world politics, the global economy and human civilization.
