Clay County, Florida, police said a 14-year-old boy named Trevor Lee shot and killed his biological parents before walking to a nearby church to confess.
After calling 911 in the early morning, Lee admitted his actions and informed the location waiting for the police, saying that prayers were needed.
When arriving at the scene, the police discovered Lee's parents, Mr. David K. Lee (44 years old) and Mrs. Brandi L. Smith (45 years old), dead at their home. According to police chief Michelle Cook, the incident occurred after a family argument last night. The gun is believed to belong to the victim and has been seized at the scene. At the time of the incident, there was no one else in the house.
The authorities said they are investigating Lee's history of mental health as well as his family situation. The underlying cause of the incident is still being clarified.
The couple's friends and relatives expressed their grief, describing them as dedicated and compassionate people. Kyree Beamon, a relative of the victim's family, said: "They are one of the best families I have ever known. They always treat me like a biological child and often say they love me like a son."
Beamon's mother also posted on social media her gratitude: "Thank you Brandi for loving my child! Thank you David for being my second father! The two will always be remembered.
The police are continuing to investigate to determine the entire developments as well as the motive of this case.
