At the invitation of President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his wife, President of the Republic of Angola Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco and his wife, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife will pay a state visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt and a state visit to the Republic of Angola from August 3-9, 2025, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang informed at a regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam on the afternoon of July 31.
"The state visit of President Luong Cuong and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to the two countries, took place in the context of the very good development of relations between Vietnam - Egypt, Vietnam - Angola" - Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam said.
For Egypt, this is the first visit of a key Vietnamese leader to Egypt in 7 years.
In terms of politics and diplomacy, the Vietnam - Egypt relationship has a long history and is especially close since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2019. The two countries actively support each other in the resistance war for national liberation as well as at international organizations and multilateral forums.
In terms of economy - trade - investment, Egypt is an important partner of Vietnam in Africa. Bilateral trade turnover in 2024 will reach 541.36 million USD, the highest in North Africa. Egypt currently has 22 projects registered to invest in Vietnam with a total capital of nearly 3 million USD.
Regarding cooperation in other fields, Vietnam - Egypt have signed cooperation agreements between the cities of Hanoi - Cairo (July 2023), Ninh Binh - Luxor (August 2018).
Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang pointed out that the state visit of President Luong Cuong is the first state visit to Angola in 17 years.
In terms of politics and diplomacy, the two Parties and two countries have a comradely and loyal relationship, actively supporting and cheering each other in the period of joint struggle against colonialism, centralism, national liberation and in the current cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
In recent times, the two countries have regularly exchanged delegations, held high-level contacts, supported each other at multilateral forums and held 7 intergovernmental Committee meetings.
Economic, investment and trade cooperation between the two countries has had positive changes in recent times, with trade turnover in 2024 reaching nearly 250 million USD.
Recently, Vietnamese enterprises are interested in the Angola market, with fields such as oil and gas, hydropower, agriculture and forestry, and mining.
Angola currently has the largest Vietnamese community in Africa with about 6,000 people, formed in the 1980s with the core being a team of medical and educational experts.
During the visit, President Luong Cuong is expected to hold important talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattahel-Sisi and Angola President Joao Manuel Goncalves Lourenco; meet with senior leaders of Egypt and Angola; meet with staff of the Embassy and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Egypt and Angola as well as have other important foreign affairs activities such as visiting economic and social facilities of the two countries.
