On the morning of April 4, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife presided over the official welcoming ceremony for President of the Republic of Burundi Evariste Ndayimiye and his wife on an official visit to Vietnam.
President of the Republic of Burundi Evariste Ndayishimiye and his wife paid an official visit to Vietnam from April 3-6 at the invitation of President Luong Cuong and his wife.

Attending the welcome ceremony were the Chairman of the Office of President Le Khanh Hai; Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang; Deputy Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien; Deputy Minister of Public Security, Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung; Vietnam Ambassador to Tanzania (concurrently Burundi) Vu Thanh Huyen; Assistant President Can Dinh Tai.
A large number of children in the capital waved flags of the two countries to welcome President Evariste Ndayishimiye and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

President evaristist Ndayishimiye's visit takes place at the time when the two countries towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (April 16, 1975-16.4.2025), is considered a historic milestone in the two countries' relations, showing the desire to strengthen the friendly relations cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, trade, culture and society.
The convoy of cars carrying President Evariste Ndayishimiye and his wife into the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong and his wife warmly welcomed President Evariste Ndayishimiye and his wife leading the high-ranking thai delegation on an official visit to Vietnam.
In the welcome music, President Luong Cuong invited President Burundi to step on the honor podium. After listening to the two countries, President Luong Cuong and President evariste Ndayishimiye left the podium, walked over to bow to the army and approved the honorary team of the Vietnam People's Army.
Next, the two leaders introduced the members of the high-ranking delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony.

Vietnam and Burundi established diplomatic relations on April 16, 1975 . Over the past half century, the two countries have maintained a good friendship and cooperation across both Party and State channels.
After the welcoming ceremony, President Luong Cuong and President Evariste Ndayishimiye had a small meeting and then led the high-ranking delegations of the two countries to hold talks, evaluate the cooperation results between the two countries in recent times, and propose cooperation directions in the coming time.
The two leaders will also witness the signing of cooperation documents.
