President Luong Cuong receives President of the Chilean Socialist Party

President Luong Cuong emphasized that Vietnam wishes to cooperate with traditional friends in Latin America, especially Chile.

Vietnam News Agency reported that within the framework of his official visit to the Republic of Chile, on the afternoon of November 10 local time, in the capital Santiago de Chile, President Luong Cuong received President of the Chilean Socialist Party Paulina Vodanovic.

The President highly appreciated the fact that the two countries and two parties share many similarities in the aspirations for freedom, independence, justice, equality, and social progress on the basis of a solid relationship, shared common interests, and have the potential to expand cooperation, complement and support each other in the development process for the benefit of the people of each country, for peace, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

The President stated that Vietnam always adheres to the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, diversification and multilateralization of relations, proactive and active international integration, being a friend, a reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community, in which Vietnam always attaches importance to developing comprehensive and modern diplomacy, based on three pillars: Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy, creating a framework for stable and sustainable relations with partners.

The President stressed that Vietnam wishes to cooperate with traditional friends in Latin America, especially with Chile, a leading country that plays a leading role in the process of regional integration and regional connectivity and is increasingly playing an important role in global issues.

The President stressed that the two sides need to continue to support, encourage and create conditions to promote the implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms and agreements, action plans and cooperation agreements between the two countries; focus on promoting cooperation in areas where both sides have needs and potential such as security - defense, science - technology, green development, digital transformation, renewable energy to create momentum for trade and investment relations between the two countries; support the two governments to closely coordinate at international forums, especially at the United Nations.

For her part, President of the Chilean Socialist Party Paulina Vodanovic expressed her pleasure at welcoming President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, emphasizing that the visit is of great significance in promoting relations between the two countries in general and between the two parties in particular.

Ms. Vodanovic said that despite the geographical distance, the two countries have always had a good traditional friendship; emphasizing that the struggle for independence of the Vietnamese people had a great influence on the young generation of Chile at that time and that there was a march of hundreds of kilometers from the port city of Valparaiso to the capital Santiago in 1969 to express support for the just struggle of the Vietnamese people.

The President of the Chilean Socialist Party said that immediately after being elected in 1971, President Salvador Allende decided to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam and became the first South American country to do so.

With the friendly relationship between the two countries always being preserved and increasingly developed, especially in recent years, Ms. Paulina Vodanovic affirmed that this is the basis for the two countries to continue expanding cooperation in all fields of economy, politics, diplomacy and culture.

The President of the Chilean Socialist Party hopes that Vietnam will share experiences that both countries are interested in, such as ensuring social security and ensuring safety for people, and hopes to cooperate with Vietnam in the issue of illegal immigration and the fight against crime.

Ms. Paulina Vodanovic affirmed that, with its role, the Chilean Socialist Party will continue to preserve and build the traditional good friendship between the two countries to become increasingly deeper and more effective.
