On the afternoon of November 1, continuing activities within the framework of the working trip to Korea to attend the APEC Summit Week 2025 and work bilaterally in Korea, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong visited Busan city and received Mr. Park Heong Joon - Mayor of Busan city.
Mayor Park Heong Joon expressed his honor and warm welcome to President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to visit Busan city; expressed his joy at the very good development of the Korea - Vietnam relationship in many fields.
Mayor Park Heong Joon affirmed that the visit of General Secretary To Lam to announce the establishment of a Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan city (August 2025) and the visit of President Luong Cuong to Busan city this time will contribute significantly to promoting substantive cooperation between Busan city and Vietnamese localities.
President Luong Cuong expressed his delight that after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, the two countries of Vietnam and Korea have officially upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (December 2022) and become each other's leading important partners in the region; affirmed that the potential for cooperation between the two countries is still very large and the two sides are actively cooperating to successfully implement the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to reach the target of 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable direction.
President Luong Cuong congratulated the great achievements that Busan City has achieved in the process of developing to become the second largest economic center of Korea and the fifth largest port city in the world; and thanked the City's Board of Directors for their active support for the activities of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan.
President Luong Cuong suggested that Busan city continue to promote expansion of cooperation with Vietnamese provinces and cities, especially in Busan city's strong cooperation in the field of seaports and shipbuilding.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong thanked and wished the Busan City government to continue to pay attention to and support the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Busan, thereby contributing to the city's development, as well as effectively promoting the role of a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
Expressing his appreciation and high agreement with the instructions and orientations of President Luong Cuong, Mayor Park Heong Joon pledged that Busan City will continue to closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces and cities of Vietnam to strengthen substantive cooperation in areas where both sides have strengths, especially in the fields of seaports, shipbuilding, high-quality human resource training, and tourism cooperation, thereby contributing to the substantial development of the Korea - Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Mayor Park Heong Joon affirmed that the Busan City government is ready to support and facilitate the activities of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan; at the same time, continue to have policies to protect the legitimate rights of 14,000 Vietnamese citizens in Busan City, thereby creating conditions for the Vietnamese community to increasingly integrate better, more deeply and make many contributions to the development of the city, as well as effectively promote the role of a bridge of friendship between the two countries.
