National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended the opening ceremony and first plenary session of the 45th AIPA General Assembly and delivered an important speech at the session.

On the morning of October 19, in Vientiane, Laos, the 45th AIPA General Assembly held its opening ceremony and first plenary session.

According to Quochoi.vn, before the opening ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Heads of delegations of member National Assemblies/Parliaments and AIPA Observers paid a courtesy visit to Lao National Assembly Chairman and AIPA 2024 President Saysomphone Phomvihane.

Next, the Heads of Delegations of Member Parliaments/Assemblies and AIPA Observers took souvenir photos.

Also according to Quochoi.vn, on the occasion of the 45th AIPA General Assembly, General Secretary and President To Lam sent a message to the 45th AIPA General Assembly.

In the message, on behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, General Secretary and President To Lam sent his warmest greetings to Chairman of the Lao National Assembly, President of AIPA Saysomphone Phomvihane, Heads of delegations of member countries and delegates attending the 45th AIPA General Assembly held in the beautiful and peaceful "land of Champa flowers".

The General Secretary and President stated that over the past 50 years, AIPA, as a legislative and supervisory body, has made many contributions to the process of building a united and united ASEAN Community for peace, cooperation and prosperous development, bringing benefits to all people. A progressive community will contribute to ensuring a favorable environment for the development of each member country, enhancing ASEAN's international position, affirming ASEAN's central role in regional connectivity, especially in the context of the current rapidly changing and complex regional and global situation.

General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the theme of this General Assembly to promote “The role of parliaments in enhancing connectivity and comprehensive growth of ASEAN”; said that it is necessary to continue to strengthen the connection and mutual support between AIPA and ASEAN, in which ASEAN cooperation is an important foundation to promote inter-parliamentary cooperation, and AIPA cooperation is the driving force and creates a favorable framework, effectively supporting state/government diplomacy between ASEAN member states as well as with ASEAN partners.

“The Vietnamese National Assembly has been and will participate proactively, actively and responsibly in AIPA activities, contributing to building a united, strong and prosperous ASEAN Community,” affirmed General Secretary and President To Lam.

The General Secretary and President believes that under the chairmanship of AIPA 45 President Saysomphone Phomvihane, the close cooperation of delegates and the careful preparation of the host country's National Assembly, AIPA 45 will certainly be a great success.
