On May 26, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Binh Duong Provincial Police and Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police held a working session to agree on preparations for the process of merging forces according to the policy of reorganizing provincial-level administrative units.
The working session took place in Ho Chi Minh City, chaired by Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police, Colonel Vu Nhu Ha - Director of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police and Colonel Ta Van Dep - Director of Binh Duong Provincial Police. Also attending were comrades from the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, and leaders of professional departments of the three localities.

The preparation for the merger is in the implementation of Resolution 60 of the Central Government, Decision 759 of the Prime Minister and the direction of the Central Police Party Committee on streamlining the organizational structure of the police at all levels, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
At the meeting, the police of the 3 localities reviewed and assessed the situation, discussed problems, and agreed on a plan to coordinate implementation, ensuring progress and practical requirements. One of the key contents is the establishment of a Steering Committee and a Working Group to assist the Steering Committee in merging local police.

The merger will be carried out in the direction of maintaining stable organization, uninterrupted operations and ensuring the quality of professional work. The functional departments will conduct a comprehensive review, determine the content that needs to be handed over, received and adjusted appropriately after the official decision is made.
Notably, three units also agreed to prepare for the organization of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term after completing the merger process, according to the orientation of establishing a city directly under the Central Government called Ho Chi Minh City-Cao including the current area and two provinces of Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Binh Duong.
