Putting people at the center of development
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Pham Thanh Ngai - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee - emphasized: "This is a particularly important event for the Party Committee, government and all people of the province in the new historical period.
According to the Dong Thap Provincial Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, vision to 2050, which has just been adjusted in the direction of expanding development space, promoting green economy, logistics and high-tech agriculture. With the orientation of putting people at the center, Dong Thap sets a goal to become a comprehensive, modern and livable locality in the Mekong Delta region.

This is considered a strategic step to create new growth momentum, restructure the economic space and improve the quality of life for the people of Red Lotus Land in the new development stage. Accordingly, Dong Thap seriously grasps the principle: "Comprehensive - focused - connected - breakthrough - sustainable". In which, people are identified as the core, the center of all socio-economic policies.
The province aims to become a modern agricultural center, eco-tourism and green industry of the Mekong Delta region by 2050; and at the same time a locality with a civilized, safe and happy living environment. Not only focusing on pure growth figures, this plan innovates thinking when aiming to build Dong Thap into a "livable place" with a synchronous infrastructure system, high-quality social services and a sustainable ecological environment.

Economic growth associated with social security and human resources
In the period 2026 - 2030, Dong Thap confidently sets many breakthrough development targets: Growth rate: GRDP average increases by about 9.5%/year, striving to reach 10%/year. Per capita income: By 2030, GRDP per capita is expected to reach 155 million VND/person. Capital and Enterprises: The province expects to mobilize total social investment capital of about 750,000 - 800,000 billion VND; export turnover reaches 14.8 billion USD and new establishment of about 22,500 enterprises.

Sustainable environment: In parallel with the economy, the rate of solid waste treatment and the rate of rural households using clean water that meets standards must both exceed 99%.
In the social field, the adjusted plan clearly demonstrates the commitment to improving the overall quality of life for people through specific goals. By 2030: Determination not to have more multidimensional poverty households. Complete the construction of about 12,200 social housing units. Create new jobs for 250,000 workers, increase the rate of trained workers to at least 82.5%. Reach 11 doctors and 32 beds per 10,000 people; health insurance participation rate reaches 100%. 100% of schools at all levels from primary to high school are recognized as meeting national standards.
5 strategic breakthroughs to create growth momentum
To realize the new planning picture, Dong Thap clearly outlines 5 spearhead actions, including: Completing transport and logistics infrastructure; Developing ecological and high-tech agriculture; Promoting green industry; Training high-quality human resources and Promoting digital transformation.

Forming 5 key economic regions and strongly shifting agricultural thinking
According to the adjusted plan, Dong Thap will organize development space according to 5 socio-economic regions and 5 strategic economic corridors: Central region along the Tien River: Identified as the main driving force for development, focusing on urban economy, logistics, processing industry and digital transformation. Dong Thap Muoi region: Continuing to play the role of center of ecological agriculture, conservation of wetland ecosystems and freshwater security. The remaining regions: Orienting marine economic development, border trade, processing industry and inter-regional logistics services. Economic corridors along National Highway 1, Tien River, Hau River and coastal areas will be regional links, promoting industry and tourism to take off.

Dong Thap still relies on 2 key industries, agriculture and industry, but operates in a new mindset with a restructuring strategy orientation. In which, agriculture shifts from "production thinking" to "economic thinking". Reducing ineffective rice area, expanding fruit trees, ornamental flowers and aquaculture (especially exported pangasius). Promoting the achievement of organic standards, GAP to open the international market. Regarding industry, firmly adhere to the viewpoint: Do not trade the environment for growth. Prioritize attracting high-tech, energy-saving and ecologically friendly projects.
