This morning (November 8), the Academy of Journalism and Communication held a scientific workshop: "Viewpoints and solutions to continue researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing Vietnamese press and media to 2030, with a vision to 2045".
In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Le Van Loi - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - emphasized that the workshop aims to contribute to providing very important scientific arguments for determining guiding viewpoints, proposing practical solutions and recommendations to continue researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thoughts in developing Vietnamese press and media from now until the middle of the 21st century, so that the country's press and media can maximize the historical achievements gained over the past 100 years, continuing to make practical contributions as the country enters a new era of development - "the era of national growth".
In his speech at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Huy Phuong - Standing member of the Party Committee, Head of the Organization and Personnel Department, Academy of Journalism and Propaganda affirmed that President Ho Chi Minh - the beloved leader of the Vietnamese people, is a great revolutionary journalist, the founder of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism.
During his 50 years as a writer, Uncle Ho was the author of more than 2,000 articles, 276 poems, and nearly 500 pages of stories and memoirs. He used nearly 200 pen names. Each of his words and writings was a call to arms, spreading the communist ideal and the path to national liberation.
"In his career as a journalist, President Ho Chi Minh left many valuable lessons about journalism and journalistic skills. Learning to be a journalist is learning to be a revolutionary, learning to be a professional. His valuable experiences in his career as a journalist are great lessons for generations of Vietnamese journalists to follow" - Associate Professor, Dr. Ha Huy Phuong emphasized.
At the workshop, discussing the issues arising from the current practice of press and media development, Dr. Nhi Le - former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Communist Magazine, acknowledged that currently, the whole country has about 800 press agencies, with 41,000 people working in this field, of which 20,508 people are granted press cards.
With the continuous development of the press and the development of the country, creating the face, quality and development trend of the Vietnamese press, contributing to bringing the Vietnamese revolution to a new height. However, that development practice has revealed many difficult and urgent problems that must be solved comprehensively if we want to develop synchronously, unifiedly, strongly and on par with the mission.
In his closing remarks at the workshop, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Duc Ngoc - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the School Council, Academy of Journalism and Communication, Head of Project KX.02.31/21-25, said that the comments and discussions of scientists at the workshop comprehensively assessed the achievements, while also pointing out the limitations, difficulties and challenges in researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's thought in developing journalism and communication in Vietnam during the renovation period.
At the workshop, delegates and scientists also proposed solutions and recommendations to continue researching, applying and creatively developing Ho Chi Minh's ideology in developing Vietnamese press and media until 2030, with a vision to 2045.
