On August 23, Politburo Member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Tran Duc Thang and the working delegation came to offer flowers and incense to commemorate heroic martyrs at Mai Dich Cemetery; visit and encourage forces performing the task of searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains at Mai Dich Cemetery.
In a solemn atmosphere, Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang and comrades in the city's delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense, observed a minute of silence to commemorate and express gratitude to the typical predecessors of the Party and the heroic martyrs; expressed deep gratitude to the generations who bravely fought and sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people.
In front of the spirits of the heroic martyrs, Hanoi City leaders and forces are performing the task of searching, repatriating and identifying the remains of martyrs, vowing to do their best to complete the noble and meaningful mission, expressing the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source", "Gratitude" of the nation, and soon bring the heroic martyrs back to their families.

Next, Hanoi Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang and comrades in the city's working delegation offered incense at the Martyrs' Remains House; inspected the martyrs' remains sampling area and directly inspected and encouraged the forces performing the task of searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains at Mai Dich Cemetery.
Exchanging with the forces on duty at the scene, Secretary of the City Party Committee Tran Duc Thang emphasized that the 500-day and night campaign to search, repatriate and identify the remains of martyrs is a particularly important political task with profound humanistic significance.
In Hanoi, implementing the National Steering Committee's Plan on implementing the "Operation 500 days and nights to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains", in the past time, the Hanoi City Steering Committee for searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains has thoroughly grasped the purpose, requirements, political, social and humanistic significance of the campaign.
The Party Committee, government and people of the Capital determined that this is a particularly important political task, a meaningful work, reflecting the morality of "Drinking water, remembering the source", "Gratitude" of the nation, and soon bringing the heroic martyrs back to their families and homeland.
Currently, the forces performing the task of searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains are performing the task with all sincerity and deep gratitude to the generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed for the cause of national liberation and defense of the Fatherland.
According to statistics as of 11:00 AM on August 23, Hanoi City has taken samples of 940 sets of martyrs' remains out of a total of 4,495 graves to be sampled. At Mai Dich Cemetery alone, functional forces have taken samples of 198 sets of martyrs' remains out of a total of 469 graves to be sampled.
