The pain of abuse of doctors and medical staff
On the morning of October 29, the National Assembly discussed in the hall the Assessment of the results of the implementation of the 2025 socio-economic development plan; the expected socio-economic development plan for 2026.
Delegate Tran Khanh Thu (Thai Binh Delegation) said that in the past term, the fields of socio-cultural have made progress in terms of awareness, action and results. All social indicators for the entire term exceeded the plan.
The Government's report also assessed the first achievement of the term, which is the successful control of the COVID-19 pandemic. The image of the front line, the white-clad soldiers, has become a bright symbol of courage and enthusiasm, strongly promoting the Vietnamese spirit and Vietnamese bravery. In peacetime, have these soldiers worked in a safe environment?

"That is a constant question for me, a delegate working in the health sector" - delegate Khanh Thu said.
Recently, a series of cases of abuse of medical staff have caused public outrage. According to the delegate of Khanh Thu, these incidents have been predicted for a long time but still occur and tend to be more frequent and more serious. While the medical staff has been under a lot of pressure, they need to be protected to wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly devote themselves to the work of saving people. This raises the question: "Having the right to protect the rights of health workers and employees has really received due attention? ".
"The incident of a child being admitted to an emergency room at Nam Dinh Hospital has sparked a wave of criticism and criticism. Two days after that incident, another assault on medical staff occurred in Nam Dinh, people on duty were abused again, but it was still a criticism, how should they be assaulted? There was no defensive voice from medical staff from the community and after two days, the patient's family apologized for being too hot-tempered and worried, then everything sank into silence" - delegate Khanh Thu analyzed a specific incident.
Need for a mechanism to protect health workers and employees
As a person working in the medical industry, delegate Khanh Thu affirmed that medical staff are always ready to take responsibility and face danger, but there needs to be a protective mechanism in all situations, helping them feel secure in their work without fear of being blamed or abused when an incident occurs.
"We love our job, we love our patients we are caring for every day, but please don't let us take unfair responsibility for both saving people and taking responsibility" - delegate Khanh Thu said.
According to the delegate, there have been many outstanding and practical health policies issued, but there is still a lack of a strong enough legal corridor to protect health workers while they, the ones who strive to treat patients.
Therefore, the Khanh Thu delegate suggested that there should be a policy to protect medical staff during working hours with strict legal sanctions for acts of violation and abuse of medical staff.
Specifically, the delegate proposed to add to the National Assembly's Resolution on the socio-economic development plan for 2026; In Article 3, Section 3.7. page 7, the 9th line from below: Focus on improving the capacity of the health system, monitoring, early warning, timely control of epidemics; strengthen the implementation of the Expanded Immunization Program. Ensure that medical staff and employees work in a safe medical environment: In cases of use of force, threat of use of force or use of other means to obstruct medical staff and employees when performing their duties at medical facilities, this is an act of resistance to people on duty.
Another content mentioned by the female delegate is to propose that the authorities study and recognize martyrs in cases of medical staff who sacrificed and were war invalids when medical staff were injured while on duty.
"This is not a new proposal, but there needs to be an adjustment to the Ordinance on Meritorious People and Decree 131 of 2021 of the Government to avoid disadvantages for medical staff" - Ms. Thu said.
