Dak Lak agreed to convert more than 186 hectares of forest land to implement the Phu Yen High-Tech Industrial Park Project with a total investment of more than VND 2,300 billion.

On October 30, the Dak Lak Provincial People's Council held a 3rd thematic session, passing many important resolutions, including the conversion of 186.5 hectares of forest land to implement the Phu Yen High-Tech Industrial Park Project invested by N&G Group Joint Stock Company.

The project has a scale of more than 251 hectares, a total investment of VND 2,369 billion, and a operating period of 50 years. The project aims to develop synchronous infrastructure, attracting high-tech industries such as information technology, biology, renewable energy, electronics, robots, artificial intelligence and new materials.

When put into operation, the industrial park is expected to create jobs for about 20,000 workers, increase budget revenue, promote economic restructuring, and create development momentum for the Central Highlands region.

To implement the project, the province must convert 186.5 hectares of forest land, of which 161.41 hectares are planted with reserves and 25.09 hectares are planted with no reserves, mainly mangrove, eucalyptus, and acacia. This area has been included in the planning of 3 types of forests since 2024.

The conversion is assessed to be in accordance with the National Forestry Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and in line with the development plans of the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Truong Cong Thai emphasized that changing the purpose of using forest land to implement the project is necessary and in accordance with the planning, creating a legal basis for implementing the infrastructure of high-tech industrial parks.

In the inspection report, Ms. Phan Thi Ha Phuoc, Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Council, requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct specialized agencies to carefully inspect the dossier, clearly identify the boundaries, area, and current status of the forest and strictly implement the obligation to plant replacement forests according to the provisions of the Forestry Law. The conversion will only be carried out when all legal conditions are met.

After discussion, the delegates of the Provincial People's Council unanimously approved the resolution on converting forest land area to implement the Phu Yen High-Tech Industrial Park project.
