On the afternoon of June 19, the 2nd National Press Forum in 2025 officially opened at the National Convention Center (Hanoi).
The forum was held within the framework of the National Newspaper Association 2025, an important highlight in the series of events celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
This is not only an opportunity to review glorious traditions but also a strong call for the domestic press to enter a new era - the era of professionalism, innovation and the desire to rise strongly with the nation.
Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh gave an important presentation with the theme "Vietnamese journalism: Challenges and opportunities, ready for a new era". The presentation outlined a panoramic picture of the difficulties and potential of journalism in the current context.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh gave instructions and opportunities for the press to develop sustainably. Accordingly, journalism needs to focus on content quality and core values: In the context of AI creating a huge amount of content, quality will be a key factor.
Mr. Le Quoc Minh especially emphasized that the transition from the "age of access" to the "age of direct readers" is the direction that the press needs to promote. Accordingly, the press needs to collect first-party data to better understand readers, similar to the period of selling paper newspapers.

In the context of digital technology and artificial intelligence penetrating every corner of life, Mr. Le Quoc Minh called on the press to increase the equipping of AI knowledge to serve work, as well as a way to compete with AI tools and other platforms.
The application of AI in automating news production processes, analyzing big data, detecting trends and personalizing content is something that every press agency and journalist must take advantage of.
The Vietnam Journalists Association is actively training digital capacity and AI skills for thousands of journalists with the goal of "learning AI cases for the people". In the near future, many AI training classes will be opened to help more journalists equip themselves with AI knowledge to serve their practical work.
Regarding press revenue, Mr. Le Quoc Minh also cited a report by the Reuters Press Institute to emphasize that the press should not only rely on advertising, but must expand to other sources of revenue, such as collecting reader fees, building press brands, participating in the policy media market and even repositioning print newspapers.
Although printing newspapers have declined, they still occupy an important part and bring a deeper reading experience and better memory. It is necessary to produce print newspapers as a high-quality publication, balancing digital innovation with traditional values to maintain reader engagement and increase brand value.
The 2nd National Press Forum in 2025 promises attractive, in-depth discussion sessions, opening up many ways and spaces for modern Vietnamese press to innovate and create in the spirit of Resolution 57 of the Politburo, developing truly professionally, modernly and humanely in the era of national growth.
The forum started from 2:00 p.m. on June 19 to 5:00 p.m. on June 20, including 12 sessions: opening, closing and 10 in-depth discussion sessions.
