This morning (September 19), the opening ceremony of the National Newspaper Association in 2025 took place at the Hanoi National Convention Center.
This event took place from June 19-21 at the National Convention Center (Hanoi), organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association under the direction of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The opening ceremony was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee Nguyen Trong Nghia.
Also attending were members of the Party Central Committee: Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Pham Tat Thang. Also attending were Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Newspaper Association in 2025, Mr. Le Quoc Minh said that the National Newspaper Association, formerly known as the Spring Newspaper Association, is an annual festival that is eagerly awaited by journalists nationwide. This is an opportunity for Journalists Associations, central and local press agencies to gather and review the glorious and proud tradition of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism.
Over the past 100 years, Vietnamese press has always raised the flag of struggle, contributing to the Vietnamese revolutionary process and the cause of national liberation. And when the goal of independence and freedom has become a reality, the Vietnamese press still holds the mission of being a pioneer on the ideological and cultural front; contributing to promoting economic development, cultural revival, building a strong and prosperous Vietnam, a fair, democratic and civilized society.
The press festival is also an opportunity to honor the contributions and achievements of the press, thereby affirming the pioneering role and responsibility of journalists, so that they can have more passion for the profession, firmly follow the path they have chosen, which is to serve the people, serve the Fatherland.
A guideline for journalists to continue their noble mission
According to Mr. Le Quoc Minh, the theme of the 2025 National Press Association "Vietnamese Meditation, Creativity, bravery, Innovation for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland" is also a guideline for journalists to continue their noble mission in the period when the country is entering a new era.
"Loyalty" is a demonstration of the steadfast stance and revolutionary ideals of the Communist Party of Vietnam, loyal to the Supreme interests of the nation, people and people. Journalists must always be an example in protecting the Party's ideological foundation, resolutely fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints.
In the current digital age, creativity is the key to journalism's survival and development. Creativity is not only an innovation in content and expression, but also the ability to apply new technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data to create high-quality, attractive, diverse press products that are suitable for the tastes and information approaches of the modern public.
Strong political courage is an indispensable quality of revolutionary journalists. We need to courageously reflect the truth, engage in hot, sensitive issues to fight against negativity, corruption, and waste. At the same time, we must have courage to overcome pressures and material temptations, maintain ethics and social responsibility.
Innovation is a continuous and inevitable process. The press needs to innovate its thinking and way of doing things, from the traditional publishing house model to a converged, multi-platform publishing house. Innovation to improve competitiveness. Innovation is also the constant learning, improving professional qualifications and skills to meet the increasingly high requirements of readers and the general development trend of the world.
"All of these factors are aimed at the highest goal "for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland". The press must be a pioneer in spreading good values, encouraging patriotism and national unity, contributing to creating a combined strength for our country to develop prosperously and firmly protect independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity" - Mr. Le Quoc Minh emphasized.
The 2025 National Newspaper Association has many new points with modern-scale exhibition and display activities, along with rich and attractive cultural and artistic programs. With nearly 130 booths displaying outstanding and typical press publications of more than 80 central press agencies and all levels of the Vietnam Journalists Association.
This year, the 2025 National Newspaper Association has dedicated a space to the thematic exhibition center "100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism: Achievements and trends in press development in the new era".
The Organizing Committee has collected, selected and digitized more than 500 valuable images, artifacts and documents reflecting the 100-year journey of formation and development of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.
