Impressions of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man's visit to Laos

With more than 20 activities, the visit completed all the set goals and requirements.In the capital Vientiane, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone; and held talks with Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lao National Assembly; and the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing friendly cooperation relations between Hoi An city, Quang Nam province (Vietnam) and Luang Prabang city, Luang Prabang province (Laos).

At the first plenary session of the 45th AIPA General Assembly, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man delivered an important speech, affirming that parliamentary cooperation will be the driving force for the implementation of building a law-based ASEAN Community, reflecting the voice and aspirations of the people, taking the people as the center of all development policies, creating comprehensive and profound changes for the community and each member country.With the desire to further promote the role of parliaments in enhancing connectivity, the National Assembly Chairman proposed 5 priority orientations in the coming time.

Responding to VNA right after National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly returned to Vietnam on October 19, Lao National Assembly Vice Chairman Sounthone Xayachak said that the Lao side highly appreciated the visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, affirming that the Chairman's contributions of proposals at AIPA-45 have significantly contributed to the success of the conference.

The President of the Laos - Vietnam Friendship Association emphasized that the official visit to Laos by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man took place right before the AIPA-45 General Assembly and before that, at the 44th-45th ASEAN Summit hosted by Laos which just ended, with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also attending, which shows that the leaders of the two countries regularly meet, contributing significantly to tightening and enhancing cooperation between the two countries, because the special relationship between Laos - Vietnam, Vietnam - Laos is a priceless heritage of the people of the two countries, a unique relationship in the world, close and intimate, especially like the two countries of Laos - Vietnam.
