On August 25, at the Government headquarters, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh - Chairman of the Amnesty Advisory Council - chaired a meeting to review the dossier and list of amnesty proposals in 2025 (phase 2 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day).
Recently, the Interdisciplinary Appraisal Teams of the Amnesty Advisory Council and the Specialist Teams assisting members of the Amnesty Advisory Council under departments, ministries and branches have inspected and appraised over 10,000 dossiers eligible for amnesty applications of Prisons and temporary detention centers.
The consideration and proposal of amnesty for eligible people are carried out according to a very strict, public, democratic, objective, fair, transparent, correct process according to regulations.
The amnesty request dossier is inspected and appraised at many levels with the participation of many functional agencies, departments and especially the supervision of social organizations and people.
Speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the first amnesty (April 30) has been implemented very well, creating a positive atmosphere in the whole country and we are currently implementing the second amnesty.
Since the President's Decision on the second amnesty, the authorities have been very active and urgent in implementing the tasks as required, reviewing each specific case.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Amnesty Advisory Council also listened to the Permanent Council's report twice on the results and work contents.
The Government leaders demanded that amnesty must create a spirit, affirm and demonstrate the humanistic tradition of the nation, the leniency policy of the Party and State for those sentenced to prison, very humane but also very accurate.
After today's meeting, the Amnesty Advisory Council will compile and submit to the President a list of prisoners eligible for amnesty for consideration and decision. According to the approved documents, this is expected to be the amnesty with the largest number of amnesty recipients ever.
