On October 12, the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Delegations of the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress, term 2025-2030, visited and worked with the Naval Region 2 Command (headquartered in Long Son commune, Ho Chi Minh City), to learn about the practical activities and acknowledge the contributions of the Navy in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands and developing the marine economy.
The working group was led by Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City; and Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; and representatives of departments and branches.
The Naval Region 2 Command is one of the main combat zones of the Vietnam Navy; established to manage, protect and carry out defense tasks in the southern sea and continental shelf of the Fatherland. At the same time, this place is also a training and coaching center; there are many initiatives and training models; organizing emulation movements of the unit is a valuable experience that can be applied in various socio-economic fields. The unit has been awarded many noble awards by the Party, State and Army for both collectives and individuals.
The delegation visited Brigade 167, one of the main combat ships of Naval Region 2, and better understood the training process, skills training and fighting spirit of the Navy in peacetime.
On behalf of the working delegation, Mr. Tran Van Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council - sent his best wishes for health, wishing the officers and soldiers of Region 2 to always be steadfast at the head of the storm, continuing to excellently complete all assigned tasks.
The working group continues to travel to work at Gemalink seaport, which has been in operation since 2021, currently the largest deep-water seaport in Cai Mep - Thi Vai area with a capacity of 2 million TEUs/year; a reliable destination for large shipping lines, affirming its role as an international transit center. Currently, the enterprise is investing in phase 2 to become the largest deep-water port in the country with an exploitation capacity of 3 million TEUs/year, capable of simultaneously receiving 3 of the world's largest container ships with a capacity of 250,000 DWT
At the same time, the delegation also visited and worked at Phu My III Industrial Park (Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company). This is the only specialized industrial park in Vietnam; also selected as a model, smart industrial park, developed in the direction of ecology, industrial congestion and application of information technology in management and operation.
