On the morning of October 12, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang and the delegation attending the 1st Ho Chi Minh City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term had a tour and practical experience of Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien).
The delegation started their journey at Ben Thanh underground station (one of three underground stations of Metro Line 1) and ended at Suoi Tien station (near the new Mien Dong Bus Station), with a total length of nearly 20 km.
Commercially put into operation since the end of December 2024, after nearly a year of operation, Metro Line 1 has achieved an average output of 53,440 passengers/day.
Up to now, Metro Line 1 has served more than 14 million passengers, becoming a familiar choice for many people in Ho Chi Minh City on their daily commute, school trip and travel.
Metro No. 1 not only contributes to reducing the pressure of ground traffic, but also opens up space for modern urban development, promoting regional connectivity between the center of Ho Chi Minh City and the East and neighboring provinces. This is one of the key and typical projects in the 2020 - 2030 term of the City.

After merging with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City's Metro network has a total length of about 1,012 km.
Ho Chi Minh City (before the merger) has 12 routes, about 582 km long; Binh Duong has 12 routes, about 305 km long; Ba Ria - Vung Tau has 3 routes, about 125 km long.
In the 2025 - 2030 term, Ho Chi Minh City aims to deploy 10 metro and railway lines, forming a modern public transport network, synchronous with satellite cities.
In Ho Chi Minh City (formerly), priority investment routes include:
Metro No. 2 is 48 km long, including three sections: Ben Thanh - Tham Luong, Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem and Tham Luong - Cu Chi.
Extending Metro Line 1 from Ben Thanh - An Ha (formerly Binh Chanh District).
Metro No. 3 (Hiep Binh Phuoc - An Ha), 45.8 km long.
Metro No. 4 (Dong Thanh - Tan Son Nhat Airport - Ben Thanh - Hiep Phuoc), 47.3 km long.
Metro No. 6 (inner belt), 53.8 km long.
The railway line connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio is more than 48 km long.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau (formerly), Metro No. 3 (Vung Tau - Ba Ria - Phu My) is expected to extend to Long Thanh airport.
Another important project is the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway, about 48 km long, connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Long Thanh International Airport (Dong Nai).
