A series of new wards in Ho Chi Minh City officially launched

HCMC - On June 30, new wards in HCMC are busy preparing for the operation of the two-level local government model from July 1.

According to Lao Dong, the new wards in Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously held a ceremony to announce the decision to merge administrative units of the Central and local governments, marking the official operation of the two-level government model.

In Tan Binh ward, the new administrative unit established from the merger of Wards 13, 14 and part of Ward 15 of Tan Binh district will officially enter the new operational phase with many responsibilities.

At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Binh Ward - said that the transfer process started from June 20 with an urgent workload. The day she received the official decision, she felt excited and focused on the new task. Preparations for the operating apparatus from July 1 include the arrangement of headquarters, workplaces, connection of transmission lines, account creation, issuance of certificates and digital signatures.

"Currently, everyone is in the spirit of focusing on completing the best tasks, so that by July 1, they can operate the apparatus and serve the people. The top goal is to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted apparatus" - Ms. Phuong emphasized.

In the new Gia Dinh ward, it was established on the basis of merging the original wards 1, 2, 7, 17 of Binh Thanh district. Mr. Tran Huy Luong (residing in Quarter 56) expressed his excitement at witnessing the new historical milestone of Ho Chi Minh City and was even happier when he heard that the place he lived was named - Gia Dinh.

"Calling Gia Dinh's name is known to the people of the whole country. I am very proud that the place I live in has this name, a name associated with the historical period of this land. I hope the ward's cadres will continue to maintain the long-standing revolutionary tradition, preserving the name of Gia Dinh" - Mr. Luong shared.

At noon of the same day, Saigon ward also held a launching ceremony. Saigon Ward, the new administrative unit of Ho Chi Minh City, officially came into operation from July 1, 2025 according to the policy of reorganizing the 2-level government model. The ward is formed on the basis of the entire Ben Nghe ward, part of Da Kao ward (including neighborhoods 5, 6, 8 and part of neighborhoods 4, 10) and neighborhood 1 of Nguyen Thai Binh ward.

Mr. Dang Dinh (a resident of Ho Chi Minh City) was moved when recalling the name Saigon. He said that with new orientations and steps, people like him hope that Saigon ward in particular and localities in general will together rise up to welcome the new fortunes of the whole nation.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Phat - Secretary of the Saigon Ward Party Committee said that the ward has set urgent tasks including: Completing the organization of the apparatus, arranging work reasonably to ensure smooth operation, serving people without interruption.

Strengthen the great solidarity bloc, promote the role of mastery, and enhance connectivity between neighborhoods and units. Focus on socio-economic development, improving infrastructure, improving the quality of public services and social security.

At the same time, it ensures a safe and healthy living environment, creating favorable conditions for people to study, work and do business. Improve the leadership capacity of the Party Committee, build a team of exemplary, dedicated, honest cadres, serving the people.
