At 8:00 a.m. on June 30, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a ceremony to announce resolutions and decisions of the Central and local governments related to the merger of provincial and commune-level administrative units; end the operation of district-level administrative units; establish a Party organization and appoint Party committees, People's Councils, People's Committees, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at city, commune, ward and special zone levels.
General Secretary To Lam and the Central working delegation will attend this historic ceremony.
The content announced at the ceremony includes:
Resolution of the National Assembly on the establishment of Ho Chi Minh City.
Decision of the Politburo on the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
The Politburo's decision on the appointment of the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretaries and Deputy Secretaries of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2020 - 2025 term.
The decision of the Secretariat on the appointment of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Inspection Committee, the Chairman and Deputy Chairmen of the Inspection Committee.
Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on appointing the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council; Heads of the People's Council's Committees; Heads of Delegations and Deputy Heads of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegations.
Decision of the Prime Minister on appointing the Chairman and Vice Chairmen of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Decision of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the establishment of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.

Yesterday afternoon (September 29), General Secretary To Lam and the Central and Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee working delegation visited the implementation of the two-level local government model in Xuan Hoa ward and Tan Vinh Loc commune (Ho Chi Minh City).
Through on-site inspection, General Secretary To Lam assessed: "Up to now, the line has been very short, the team has been very organized, qualified to officially operate the two-level local government model from July 1".
The new Ho Chi Minh City was established on the basis of merging the entire administrative boundaries of the two provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong into the existing Ho Chi Minh City, still keeping the name of Ho Chi Minh City.
The new city has an area of over 6,772 km2, a population of over 14 million people, including 168 commune-level administrative units, including 113 wards, 54 communes and 1 special zone.
