On the afternoon of December 30, in Rach Gia ward, the People's Council (PC) of An Giang province organized a conference to summarize the work of the PC of the 10th term, term 2021 - 2026.
The 2021 - 2026 term of the An Giang Provincial People's Council marked an administrative milestone in merging the two provinces of An Giang and Kien Giang (old), affirming the role of state power agencies in the locality, and deciding on many important policies for sustainable development. After the merger, An Giang province has an area of more than 9,888km2, a population of over 4.9 million people, with 102 administrative units, including: 85 communes, 14 wards and 3 special zones.
After being consolidated according to the new model, the 10th An Giang Provincial People's Council, term 2021 - 2026 currently has 108 delegates (26 female delegates, 82 male delegates), the organizational structure includes 4 committees with 13 full-time delegates; establishing 24 Delegation Groups in communes, wards, and special zones to ensure close proximity to the area.
During the merger process, the operation of the An Giang Provincial People's Council still ensured continuity, without interruption, organized 72 sessions, and issued 848 resolutions in 2025. These policies not only focused on socio-economic development, budget, and personnel of the province, but also issued many resolutions on issues serving the APEC 2027 Summit held in Phu Quoc Special Zone.
The strong imprint in the 2021 - 2026 term of the An Giang Provincial People's Council is promoting the application of information technology, successfully implementing the "Paperless Session" model, helping documents to be sent to delegates quickly, accurately and cost-effectively. The organizational form of the meeting is also flexible between direct and online, reducing travel time in the context of expanded administrative boundaries.

The supervision activities of the Provincial People's Council for the 2021 - 2026 term are methodical, focused and effective. The Standing Committee and the Boards of the People's Council have conducted a series of thematic supervisions on issues of particular concern to voters such as: Public land management, policies to attract medical personnel, security and order, and organizational structure arrangement.
The work of contacting voters and resolving complaints and denunciations of the Provincial People's Council achieved impressive figures, with more than 2,000 voter contacts, receiving and transferring to competent authorities to resolve thousands of opinions and recommendations. The rate of resolving complaints and denunciations reached 78.2%, showing the determination of the Standing Committee of the People's Council in protecting the legitimate rights of the people.
Over 5 years of operation, the An Giang Provincial People's Council has performed its functions and tasks well according to the law. The decision-making on important issues of the Provincial People's Council has had many innovations, closely following the requirements of socio-economic development, national defense - security in the locality. The role and position of the People's Council is affirmed as a state power body in the locality, representing the will and aspirations of the people.
Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thanh Nhan said that the conference is an opportunity to look back at a journey full of challenges, many historical milestones, very precious and memorable; preparing the mindset to enter a new term with many expectations.
A term has closed, a new stature has opened up, believing that the feelings, respect and values that have been spread today will continue to be preserved in the activities of the Provincial People's Council, contributing to deepening the close relationship between elected representatives and voters and people of An Giang province" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan emphasized.

Towards the 2026 - 2031 term, the An Giang Provincial People's Council identified the key task as continuing to maintain stable local government operations at 2 levels, improving the quality of resolution issuance and promoting comprehensive digital transformation.
