After the merger, the new An Giang province has an area of 9,888.91 km2, a population of more than 4.9 million people, with 4 main ethnic groups: Kinh, Khmer, Hoa, Cham. The whole province currently has 102 commune-level administrative units (85 communes, 14 wards, 3 special zones), with a border bordering Cambodia of more than 150 km and a coastline of 200 km.

The center believes that the key issues that need to be raised and paid attention to in the process of building tourism products and connecting the new An Giang Inner Province after the merger are the construction and location of linked tourism routes; designing key and different tourism products; coordination mechanisms in tourism development; requirements for digital transformation and green development.
The provincial Department of Tourism also proposed solutions such as comprehensive and systematic assessment of the province's tourism product system, especially tourism products with specific characteristics after the merger of provinces.
