On April 24, the People's Council of Binh Duong province, term X, 2021-2026, held its 23rd session (special session).

The Provincial People's Council approved the policy of arranging provincial-level administrative units for Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City.
At the same time, approving the policy, after the arrangement, Binh Duong will have 36 remaining commune-level administrative units (including 24 wards, 12 communes; reducing 55 commune-level administrative units, a reduction of 60.4%).
Of which, there is 1 unit that meets the prescribed standards and does not carry out the arrangement (there is Thoi Hoa ward).
Binh Duong province also identified 10 commune-level administrative units after the arrangement as key areas of the province and current district-level localities to create room for development and elevate urban status in the future.
Establishing 36 new communes and wards in Binh Duong
Establish 24 new wards, including: Dong Hoa, Di An, Tan Dong Hiep, Thuan An, Thuan Giao, Binh Hoa, Lai Thieu, An Phu, Binh Duong, Chanh Hiep, Thu Dau Mot, Phu Loi, Vinh Tan, Binh Co, Tan Uyen, Tan Hiep, Tan Khanh, Phu An, Tay Nam, Long Nguyen, Ben Cat, Chanh Phu Hoa, Thoi Hoa, Hoa Loi.
Establish 12 new communes, including: Bac Tan Uyen, Thuong Tan, An Long, Phuoc Thanh, Phuoc Hoa, Phu Giao, Tru Van Tho, Bau Bang, Minh Thanh, Long Hoa, Dau Tieng, Thanh An commune.
