On December 11, in Can Tho City, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien attended and directed the Conference to review the work of the Emulation Front of 5 centrally-run cities in 2024.
Speaking at the Conference, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien acknowledged, commended and congratulated the outstanding achievements of the 5 cities in 2024.
Chairman Do Van Chien emphasized that the strength of the Vietnam Fatherland Front is mobilizing social resources to ensure social security, support people affected by natural disasters and floods (especially storm No. 3, the poor, people in difficult circumstances...)
Chairman Do Van Chien stated that the Vietnam Fatherland Front has successfully built houses for the poor in Dien Bien province (5,500 houses) as a practical basis for the Prime Minister to launch a nationwide emulation movement to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor in 2025.
Regarding 2025, Chairman Do Van Chien said that this is a very important year, the year of Party Congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress; the year of major holidays. Therefore, Chairman Do Van Chien suggested focusing on studying and effectively implementing the resolutions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels and the resolution of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; urgently and effectively implementing the 6 programs decided by the congress.
Focus on participating in criticism and giving opinions on documents of Party Congresses at their level, draft documents of the 14th Party Congress; promote the implementation of patriotic emulation movements and major campaigns; identify the focus and key points of social security work: the whole country joins hands to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for the poor by 2025.
Chairman Do Van Chien requested continued participation in the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity in accordance with the direction of the Central Steering Committee, headed by General Secretary To Lam.
Can Tho City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Hieu said that this is an opportunity for the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city to exchange and learn experiences, contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of the Front's work in the coming time.
"I especially hope to receive frank and enthusiastic exchanges from comrades and delegates on issues related to promoting the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in Party building and building a clean and strong government," said Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee Nguyen Van Hieu.
According to the report, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of the five cities have proactively developed and implemented a coordinated action program for 2024 in conjunction with local political tasks, identified and implemented key and focal tasks, and achieved many outstanding results.
The 5-city Front has effectively implemented the work of launching support for the "For the Poor" fund and local social security programs, mobilizing the "For the Poor" Fund at 3 levels to reach over 278.51 billion VND, mobilizing support for the construction and repair of over 3,451 solidarity houses, with a total value of over 194.6 billion VND, contributing to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister.
Responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee - Relief Mobilization Committee of 5 cities organized a launching ceremony to raise donations to support people in the northern provinces and cities affected by storm No. 3.
