On the afternoon of June 12, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council passed a resolution to establish 4 new wards including Tan Dinh, Dien Khanh, Dien Lac and Dien Dien, creating more room for urban development and completing the criteria for building the province into a centrally-run city.
According to the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council, this is an important step to complete the criteria for building Khanh Hoa into a centrally-run city in the near future.
Currently, Khanh Hoa has 65 commune-level administrative units, including 16 wards, 48 communes and 1 special zone. According to regulations, to meet one of the necessary conditions to become a centrally-run city, the ratio of wards to the total number of commune-level administrative units must reach 30% or more.
Therefore, upgrading 4 more communes to wards is identified as a necessary requirement in the local urban development roadmap.
Through reviewing the criteria according to regulations, 4 communes including Tan Dinh, Dien Khanh, Dien Lac and Dien Dien are eligible to be upgraded to wards in 2026. The resolutions establishing wards have all been approved by the Provincial People's Council with high consensus.
The establishment of 4 new wards will create favorable conditions for population management, land management, infrastructure investment and public service provision. At the same time, this policy is also consistent with the province's urban development orientation in the new period.
Previously, the voter opinion poll in 4 localities all received very high consensus, with approval ratings from over 99% to nearly 100% of households participating in the poll.
Also at the meeting, after comprehensively considering the contents submitted by the Provincial People's Committee, the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council approved the Resolution adjusting the Khanh Hoa Provincial Plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The Provincial People's Council also agreed to add the Dong Bac Ninh Hoa 2 Mixed Urban Area Project to the list of projects that must recover land for socio-economic development for national and public interests in the province.
Regarding personnel work under its authority, the Provincial People's Council has dismissed Mr. Nguyen Van Hoa, former Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, from the position of Member of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2026 - 2031 term due to transferring to another job.
At the same time, the Provincial People's Council elected additional members of the Provincial People's Committee for the term 2026 - 2031 for Ms. Thai Thi Le Hang - Provincial Party Committee Member, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Mr. Vu Ngoc Duong - Provincial Party Committee Member, Director of the Department of Education and Training.
