On the morning of July 25, in Xuan Truc commune, the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee to solemnly organize the Inauguration Ceremony of the Memorial Area of Heroic Martyrs of the People's Police Bui Thi Cuc.
Attending the ceremony were General Luong Tam Quang - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Public Security, Minister of Public Security; Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Le Minh Tri - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission; Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, along with members of the Party Central Committee, leaders of central committees, ministries, and sectors.
On the side of Hung Yen province were Mr. Pham Quang Ngoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and provincial leaders.
At the ceremony, delegates listened to a report on the construction results of the Bui Thi Cuc People's Police Heroic Martyr Memorial Area. The project is built on an area of about 13,000m2 in Xuan Truc commune, including items: statue of Heroic Martyr Bui Thi Cuc, church, memorial display house, guest house - management and lake system, yard, garden and landscape.
The project is sponsored by Sun Group with a total cost of more than 68 billion VND and handed over to local management after completion.
This is a project of special significance, contributing to preserving the imprints of the life and heroic sacrifice of Heroic Martyr of the People's Police Bui Thi Cuc, and at the same time educating patriotism and revolutionary traditions for generations.
Heroic Martyr of the People's Police Bui Thi Cuc, real name Tran Thi Lan, was born in 1930 in Van Mac village, Quang Trung commune, An Thi district (now Van Mac village, Xuan Truc commune, Hung Yen province).
She was an enemy mobilization officer of An Thi District Women's Union, a Communist Party member in 1947. Due to task requirements, from December 1949, she became an officer of District III Police of Hung Yen province (old), assigned to operate in the enemy's heart.
After completing her mission, she was captured and brutally tortured by the enemy but remained steadfast, not reporting the revolutionary base. On May 15, 1950, she heroically sacrificed herself when she had just turned 20 years old.
In 1952, President Ho Chi Minh posthumously awarded the Third-class Independence Medal and six gold words "Living heroically, dying gloriously". In 1995, the State posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
In recent years, many memorial works to Heroic Martyr of the People's Police Bui Thi Cuc have been built, including bronze statues, Bui Thi Cuc Kindergarten, Temple at the headquarters of Hung Yen Provincial Police and the road named after Bui Thi Cuc.
The inauguration of the Memorial Area continues to contribute to expressing gratitude and honoring the contributions and sacrifices of the female Heroic Martyr of the People's Police to the revolutionary cause and the defense of the Fatherland.
