On June 24, in Hanoi, Politburo Member, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien attended the meeting of the Ethnic Council to summarize the work in the first 6 months of the year and the directions and key tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
Speaking to direct at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien said that in the first 6 months of the year, the Ethnic Council participated in effectively appraising draft laws and resolutions, contributing to the overall success of the first session of the 16th National Assembly.
The Ethnic Council has also well implemented the supervision and survey work and seriously implemented the conclusions of the National Assembly Party Committee, the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly leaders.
In the last 6 months of the year, the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly requested the Party Committee of the Ethnic Council to carefully study Decision 167-QD/TW on the functions, tasks, organizational structure, and model working regulations of the Party Committee (Party Cell), ministries, branches, agencies, and organizations at the central and provincial levels where the activities of the Party Delegation and Party Personnel Committee end.
According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, the non-scheduled session was approved by competent authorities to be held in August 2026. The time for the Session is very tight, if previous non-scheduled sessions mainly focused on personnel work, the session in August focused on legal work.
Therefore, it is necessary to adjust the work plan of the National Assembly Party Committee, the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Ethnic Council and the Committees of the National Assembly.
It is proposed that the Party Committee of the Ethnic Council urgently build a database of the Ethnic Council, trying to complete it by the end of July 2026 for dataization, contributing to completing the database of the National Assembly.
Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Do Van Chien requested that the Ethnic Council must coordinate with the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs to survey and evaluate after the merger and arrangement of organizations and apparatus that affect the lives of ethnic minority and mountainous people.
