On the morning of February 20, Mr. Tran Hong Thai, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, directly came to reward and commend the sense of responsibility of the district police force in quickly solving the case of a gold shop robbery in Di Linh district.
The collectives received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in arresting the subject who caused the gold shop robbery in Di Linh district. Including: Criminal Investigation Department, Criminal Police Department, Ministry of Public Security; Criminal Police Department, Provincial Police and Di Linh District Police.
The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee commended and praised the high sense of responsibility of the police force directly participating in solving the case. The participating forces have excellently completed the assigned tasks.
Thereby, quickly solving the case within 24 hours, arresting the robber, bringing confidence to many classes of people.
The incident occurred at around 11:24 p.m. on February 13 at the Nhu Ngoc Chau Gold and Gemstone Trading Border Gate (residential group 15, Di Linh town).
At this time, Pham Thanh Chung (33 years old, residing in Di Linh district) wearing a face-covering mask went to the above gold shop and used a saw to smash the glass cabinet. Next, Chung took away a large amount of gold and got on a motorbike to escape.
During the escape, Chung changed many uniforms, changed license plates, and drove around many localities to deceive the authorities.
After burying some of the stolen gold in his garden, Chung took 4 gold necklaces and fled to Bien Hoa city (Dong Nai province).
At noon on February 14, Lam Dong Provincial Police and Di Linh District Police coordinated with Bien Hoa City Police to arrest Chung when he was taken by a friend to sell gold.
That same evening, the investigation agency transferred Pham Thanh Chung to his house in Hoa Ninh commune (Di Linh district) to recover the stolen gold.
