HCMC - Mr. Nguyen Van Tho was assigned to hold the position of Permanent Vice Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 01 on the assignment of the work of the Chairman, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and members of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

According to the decision, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, was assigned to be the Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho (born in 1968) is from Dat Do district, the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, now Dat Do commune, Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Tho has a professional qualification of bachelor of economics, bachelor of law, and senior political theory.

Previously, from December 2019, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho held the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. After Ho Chi Minh City merged with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the Prime Minister appointed Mr. Nguyen Van Tho to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, term 2021 - 2026.

According to the assignment, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Tho is responsible for managing daily work, monitoring and urging the implementation of the work program of the City People's Committee by week, month, quarter and year; directing the Office of the City People's Committee in coordinating with central agencies, the City Party Committee, the City People's Council and related units, and reporting to the Chairman of the City People's Committee on important issues.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho also assigned Vice Chairmen and members of the City People's Committee to attend the activities of central agencies, the City Party Committee, the City People's Council, the City People's Committee and affiliated units; at the same time, support the Chairman of the City People's Committee to direct the fields of national defense, security and internal affairs.

Mr. Tho directly directed and signed documents in the fields of: judicial administration, ethnicity - religion, fire prevention and fighting - rescue, corruption - negativity - crime prevention; citizen reception, inspection, complaint - denunciation settlement, supervision inspection.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho also monitored and directed public investment projects approved before July 1 in the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and implemented Resolution 66/2024 on legal reform.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee is also in charge of personnel work, emulation - reward, discipline, promotion, training, sending to study abroad, going abroad... for agencies and units assigned to him (except for some special cases according to regulations).

Mr. Tho directly directed the agencies: Office of the City People's Committee, City Inspectorate, Department of Justice, Department of Ethnicity and Religion, Youth Volunteer Force, 27/7 One Member Co., Ltd. and many Management Boards and Centers in the old Ba Ria - Vung Tau area.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tho also helped the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee direct the Ho Chi Minh City Police and the Ho Chi Minh City Command, and at the same time monitored and directed 11 wards and 18 communes that were once under Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
