On December 24, in Hanoi, the Government Inspectorate held a national online conference to review 5 years of implementing the Law on Anti-Corruption (AC).
Speaking at the conference, Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong affirmed that after more than 5 years of implementing the Law on Anti-Corruption and its guiding documents, anti-corruption work has been deployed strongly, resolutely, persistently, continuously, without rest, without forbidden areas, without exceptions.
In recent times, this work has achieved many important, comprehensive, synchronous and clearer results; corruption has been gradually controlled, prevented and tends to decrease.
Reporting at the conference, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Le Tien Dat said that in the past 5 years, ministries, branches and localities inspected 139,208 agencies, organizations and units on publicity and transparency, and detected and handled 1,445 agencies, organizations and units that violated regulations.
The work of detecting and handling corruption continues to be directed resolutely and strictly, with strong and breakthrough progress; functional agencies have made great efforts and coordinated more closely and systematically to remove difficulties and obstacles.
During the period 2020 - 2024, 2,060,550 people declared their assets and income during the period, with a disclosure rate of over 98%; 37,106 people had their assets and income verified. 147 people were disciplined for violating regulations on asset and income control.
There were 264 leaders and deputy leaders who were disciplined for lack of responsibility for allowing corruption to occur, and 73 people were criminally prosecuted for lack of responsibility for allowing corruption to occur.
In addition to the important results achieved, the report also clearly stated that anti-corruption work still has certain limitations: corruption is still very complicated with more serious nature in terms of the amount of corrupt assets and the positions and powers of those who commit corrupt acts; the effectiveness of some corruption prevention measures is not high; the rate of recovery of corrupt and lost assets is still low;
Speaking at the conference's conclusion, Government Inspector General Doan Hong Phong said that it is necessary to synchronously implement legal regulations on anti-corruption and negativity, in which, both focusing on preventive measures and being resolute and strict in the fight against anti-corruption;
At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen coordination between functional agencies on inspection, auditing, investigation, prosecution, and courts in anti-corruption work.
