On September 29, in Hanoi, General Secretary To Lam - Head of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity (Steering Committee) - chaired a meeting with the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee to discuss and give opinions on: Results of directing the handling of corruption, waste and negativity cases and incidents since the 28th Session to date; Results of reviewing, handling and inspecting works and projects that are behind schedule, have long-term backlogs, and are at risk of causing loss and waste.

On the afternoon of September 29, the Central Internal Affairs Commission - the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee - informed about the results of the Standing Committee meeting. Mr. Le Hong Quang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission - chaired the announcement session.
The report at the announcement ceremony said that since the 28th Session, prosecution agencies nationwide have prosecuted and investigated 443 cases/1,488 defendants, prosecuted 470 cases/1,296 defendants, and tried 512 cases/1,266 defendants at first instance for economic and position corruption crimes.
In particular, the cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee have prosecuted 4 new cases/36 defendants, prosecuted 60 additional defendants in 5 cases; concluded the investigation of 1 case/9 defendants; concluded the investigation of 1 additional case/28 defendants; issued an indictment to prosecute 5 cases/72 defendants; held a first-instance trial of 3 cases/73 defendants; tried 2 cases/4 defendants; completed the first-instance trial of 2 key cases of special concern to the public according to the plan of the Steering Committee.
The Central Inspection Committees, Party committees, and inspection committees at all levels focus on inspecting topics and cases according to the conclusions of the Steering Committee. Since the 28th Session, Party committees and inspection committees at all levels have disciplined 13 Party organizations and 190 Party members;
The Central Executive Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Commission have disciplined 8 senior officials under the management of the Politburo and the Secretariat; bringing the total number of disciplinary cases from the beginning of 2025 to 19 cases under the management of the Central Government; of which, 11 cases were disciplined due to cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee; 3 cases were criminally prosecuted.
The Government and the Prime Minister have focused on leading, directing the review, classification and handling of 2,991 projects that are behind schedule, have long-standing, and are at risk of causing loss and waste; initially classified them into 7 groups of projects with difficulties and obstacles, along with handling plans to remove difficulties and obstacles; focused on directing and removing difficulties and obstacles for 11 projects. The Standing Committee of the Steering Committee assigned the Government Party Committee to direct the handling, including solutions and roadmaps for 6 projects; at the same time, actively directed the completion of the review and handling of 10,971 surplus real estate facilities after the arrangement of administrative units at all levels.
The Government Inspectorate has organized a review, classification, inspection, and inspection of 563 projects and works with difficulties, problems, delays, prolonged backlogs, low efficiency, and risk of causing loss and waste.
