On the afternoon of July 7, the Central Internal Affairs Commission held a meeting to announce the results of the 28th meeting of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity (Steering Committee)
The 28th meeting of the Steering Committee chaired by General Secretary To Lam at the Party Central Committee headquarters on the same morning.
At the meeting, through discussion, the Steering Committee agreed on a number of contents on the results of work in the first 6 months of 2025.
In particular, the work of detecting and handling corruption, waste and negativity continues to be promoted; the authorities have focused on inspecting, examining, investigating, and thoroughly handling serious and complicated corruption, waste and negativity cases and incidents that are of public concern.
From the beginning of 2025 to now, Party committees and inspection committees at all levels have disciplined 230 Party organizations and 7,235 Party members; the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Inspection Committee have disciplined 11 officials under the management of the Central Government. The Inspection and Auditing sector has conducted many inspections and audits of areas and areas prone to corruption and negativity, public interest and topics and incidents assigned by the Steering Committee.
Through inspection and auditing, it has been recommended to recover and handle the financial situation of VND9,533 billion and 617 hectares of land; recommended to handle administrative procedures for 381 collectives and 1,083 individuals; transfer 28 cases with signs of crime to the investigation and handling agency according to regulations. In particular, the Government Inspectorate completed the inspection in less than 3 months, recommending handling many violations at the two investment projects to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital according to the conclusion of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee.
Prosecution agencies nationwide have proactively identified, discovered, investigated and handled many serious and complicated cases that occurred in areas that greatly affected the healthy development of the economy and people's lives and health, and the rights of workers; had collusion and connection between businesses, even with degraded and degraded officials in state agencies, causing public outrage; prosecuted and investigated a number of cases that caused great loss and waste of state assets, with strong warning, deterrence, and prevention effects, in accordance with the spirit of " handling one case, warning the whole region, the whole field".
In the first 6 months of the year, the prosecution agencies have prosecuted 1,776 new cases/4,038 defendants for corruption, economic crimes, and positions. In particular, the cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee have concluded the investigation of 7 cases/127 defendants; issued an indictment to prosecute 5 cases/87 defendants; tried 7 defendants' 1994 cases at first instance; tried 9 cases/221 defendants at appellate trial.
In particular, the investigation has been expanded, 2 new cases have been prosecuted; 40 more defendants have been prosecuted from 8 cases; the investigation of the case occurring at Thuan An Group has been concluded; the indictment has been issued, the case occurring at Phuc Son Group has been brought to trial; the first instance trial and appeal of a number of key cases according to the Plan of the Steering Committee.
