Evaluating the entire great historical journey of the Party and the nation
On May 25, according to the Electronic Information Portal of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Central Party Office has just issued Notice No. 62-TB/TW concluding General Secretary and President To Lam at the first session of the Steering Committee for summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution and orienting the country's development for the next 100 years and summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism (Steering Committee).
According to Notice 62-TB/TW, dated May 14, 2026, in Hanoi, the Steering Committee organized the first meeting under the chairmanship of General Secretary, President To Lam, Head of the Steering Committee.
After listening to the report of the Standing Agency of the Steering Committee and the speeches of the members of the Steering Committee, General Secretary, President To Lam, Head of the Steering Committee concluded:
Summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution, orienting the leadership of national development in the next 100 years and summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism is a particularly important political task, of great significance in theory, practice, politics, ideology and organization; is a strategic work of the Party and the nation to serve the planning of the country's development guidelines in the new era - the era of national rise.
Summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution is not only to recount historical events in chronological order, but also to focus on evaluating the entire great, extremely glorious but also full of sacrifices, challenges, and hardships of the Party and our nation; to answer major questions of strategic importance, with long-term orientation value for the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
The summary needs to clarify the key factors that help our Party lead the nation to overcome historical turning points and achieve great achievements; what are the decisive factors for the victory of the Vietnamese revolution; the lessons of law that need to be inherited, summarized and developed in the new period; the limitations and shortcomings that need to be viewed directly and objectively assessed for correction and overcoming; the pillars that ensure the sustainability of the Party, the longevity of the nation and the regime; the vision of national development in the next 100 years.
Summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform, not only summarizing one document, but also summarizing the process of realizing the guidelines for building and protecting the Fatherland in the transitional period to socialism, focusing on the last 10 years associated with 40 years of renovation; continuing to clarify the development model of Vietnam, the model of socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam; researching, supplementing, and developing theories about the large and lawful relationships in the process of building socialism; building a base theory to serve the construction of the Platform for national development and protection in the new period.
Elevating it to become a development declaration of our Party in the new era
The Steering Committee basically agreed with the major orientations proposed by the Editorial Team, especially the contents on: The first platform of the Party - a vision spanning the century; raising the flag of national independence associated with socialism; steadfastly applying and creatively developing the ideological foundation of the Party; promoting the strength of the People and the great national unity bloc under the leadership of the Party; combining national strength with the strength of the era; the great relationships and lessons of the Vietnamese revolution.
The summary reports must express the core and consistent messages, carrying the Party's strategic vision beyond its era; elevating it to become a development manifesto of our Party in the new era, ensuring content with ideological depth; conclusions with orientational value, opening up and promoting action.
General Secretary, President To Lam, Head of the Steering Committee, also noted the contents on the method of summarizing and organizing implementation.
The summary process needs to be closely combined with propaganda work; considering this as a widespread political and ideological activity in the entire Party, people, and army.
The content of propaganda must deepen the great historical stature of 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution and 40 years of implementing the Platform; arouse national pride, consolidate faith in the Party, bravery, Vietnamese intelligence, the path to socialism and the future development of the country.
