On May 14, in Hanoi, the Steering Committee for summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution, orienting the leadership of national development in the next 100 years and summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism (Steering Committee) held the first meeting.
General Secretary, President To Lam, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the Meeting. Leaders and former leaders of the Party and State also attended the meeting.
At the Meeting, delegates listened to a summary report on the Project and serious, responsible, democratic, and frank speeches, showing high consensus.
Concluding at the Meeting, General Secretary and President To Lam stated clearly that summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution, orienting the leadership of national development in the next 100 years and summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform for building the country in the transitional period to socialism (CNXH) is a particularly important political task, of great significance in terms of theory, practice, politics, ideology and organization; showing the responsibility of the 14th Central Committee of the Party for the revolutionary cause of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the first 100 years of its birth and leadership of the country.
General Secretary and President To Lam said that summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution is not recounting historical events in chronological order. The important thing is to answer big questions: Why can our Party lead the nation to overcome historical turning points and achieve great achievements? What are the decisive factors for the victory of the Vietnamese revolution? If it were not the Communist Party of Vietnam, if it were not Uncle Ho leading the country in that period, would the cause of national liberation, reunification and development of the country have been as successful as today? What rule-based lessons need to be drawn, inherited and developed in the new period? What limitations and shortcomings need to be viewed directly, clarified, and objectively assessed for correction and overcoming? What is the country's development vision in the next 100 years? What pillars ensure the sustainability of the Party, the longevity of the nation and the regime?
Summarizing 40 years of implementing the Platform is not just summarizing a document, but must further clarify the development model of Vietnam, the socialist model and the path to socialism of Vietnam along with the large-scale, rule-based relationships in the process of building socialism; building the rationale as a basis for building the Platform for national development and defense in the new era.
Highly appreciating the key orientations proposed by the Editorial Board, the General Secretary and President clearly stated that it is necessary to continue to concretize them in the detailed outline to express the core and consistent messages, bringing a strategic vision to catch up with the Party's times, raising the summary report to become a development manifesto of our Party in the new era.
Regarding the method of summarizing, the General Secretary and President requested that the theory and practice must be combined smoothly. This summary must have historical depth, theoretical height and suggestive power to create for the future.
The General Secretary and President emphasized that it is necessary to refer to international experience, in the spirit of independence, objectivity, receptiveness, selection, and suitability to Vietnamese conditions, absolutely not to be rigid, dogmatic, mechanically copied, and not to replace Vietnamese practice with the experience of other countries.
With the tradition of solidarity, wisdom, and bravery of our Party, with the enthusiasm and high responsibility of the Steering Committee, the elaborate preparation of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee, the Editorial Board; with the core role of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, the Central Theoretical Council; the active and responsible participation of departments, ministries, branches, localities, experts, and scientists, the General Secretary and President believe that there will be a worthy summary work, of high quality, with profound theoretical and practical value, serving practically the planning of guidelines and strategies for national development in the new era.
