Information from Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, the unit has just issued Resolution No. 60 on the arrangement and merger of commune-level administrative units.
According to the Resolution, the number of commune-level administrative units is unified to decrease from 153 communes, wards and towns to 48 communes and wards (including 3 wards and 45 communes), the names and administrative centers of commune-level administrative units after the reorganization.
In particular, Bao Thang district has 5 communes; Lao Cai city 4 communes and wards (2 communes and 2 wards); Bat Xat 7 communes; Bao Yen 6 communes; Van Ban 8 communes; Sa Pa town 6 communes and wards; Bac Ha 6 communes; Si Ma Cai 2 communes and Muong Khuong 4 communes.
The rate of commune-level reduction in Lao Cai province reached 68.22%.
