On July 18, the working delegation of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council led by Mr. Vo Van Minh - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council - surveyed and worked with the Party Committee and People's Committee of Long Son commune on the situation, organization and operation of the commune.
During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Trong Thuy - Chairman of Long Son Commune People's Committee reported on the local activities. Since July 1, when the two-level government was operated, the apparatus has generally gradually stabilized, the administrative system has operated relatively smoothly. However, there are still some difficulties in technical infrastructure, finance, etc.
In particular, an urgent problem is the weak telecommunications network infrastructure, leading to not meeting the needs of digital transformation. Therefore, Long Son commune proposed that the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City propose that telecommunications enterprises expand their networks, especially install more 5G broadcasting stations in the area, creating a foundation to promote the development of the digital ecosystem.
At the same time, the locality proposed solutions to equip computers with Internet connection in villages, support people to access digital technology in life and agricultural production; organize digital skills training for local officials and people to improve the effectiveness of online public service implementation... and other contents.
Representatives of relevant departments and branches also answered some questions, accepted recommendations and proposals of Long Son commune to coordinate and support the resolution of local problems.
It is known that Long Son commune (formerly Vung Tau city, old Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) is one of the commune-level administrative units that did not carry out the arrangement and merger. At the same time, Long Son is a locality with a rich culture and history, people mainly make a living by fishing and aquaculture; in the area, there is the Long Son Petrochemical project (a national key project) with a total investment capital of more than 5.7 billion USD.
