At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of June 19, answering questions from the press about Vietnam's response to US requests during the counterpart tax negotiation process to reduce China's presence in the production and supply chains in Vietnam, Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that the Ministry of Industry and Trade has provided official information about the third round of negotiations between Vietnam and the US.
The third round of bilateral talks on counter- trade between Vietnam and the US was held in Washington DC from June 9 to 12.
According to Ms. Hang, the Vietnamese and US negotiation delegations have made a lot of progress and narrowed the gap in all areas of negotiations.
"The US side highly appreciated Vietnam's goodwill and efforts in negotiations and affirmed that the US attaches great importance to its relationship with Vietnam, acknowledged Vietnam's proposal and interest, and considered it an important basis for the two sides to continue discussing and promoting the reaching of an agreement between the two countries" - Ms. Hang added.
For its part, the Vietnamese negotiating delegation affirmed Vietnam's determination to build and promote economic and trade relations with the US in a balanced and sustainable manner, for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries.
The Vietnamese and US negotiating delegations agreed to hand over technical cooperation to both sides to continue to increase exchanges to soon reach an agreement in accordance with the expectations and conditions of both sides.
Also at the press conference, when asked about updated information related to the US study visa interview, Ms. Pham Thu Hang said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Vietnamese representative agencies in the US are actively researching and verifying information on this issue.
"We hope that applying for a US visa will continue to be carried out smoothly and meet the legitimate needs and aspirations of students from other countries, including Vietnam," said Ms. Hang.
