On the morning of June 24, the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee held a conference to announce decisions on personnel work.
According to the decision of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong was transferred and appointed to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of the Saigon Ward Party Committee for the term 2025 - 2030.
Previously, at the 3rd session of the 11th Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2026 - 2031 held on June 19, delegates voted to approve the dismissal of Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong from the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong holds the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of Saigon Ward replacing Mr. Nguyen Tan Phat who has been transferred to be Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong was born in 1975, is a bridge and road engineer, with a master's degree in engineering and a master's degree in public administration.
During his work, he held many important positions in the field of urban transport in Ho Chi Minh City such as Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport and twice held the position of Head of Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board.
From October 2022 to June 19, 2026, he held the position of Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
Speaking to assign tasks, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc said that the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee placed high expectations on Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong in his new position.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Saigon ward is the central area of Ho Chi Minh City, where many central agencies, administrative agencies, economic organizations and large corporations are concentrated. This is an area with a particularly important position, considered a "key point of key points" and the face of the city.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requested the collective leadership and officials of Saigon Ward to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, accompany and support Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong to quickly catch up with the work, build Saigon Ward to develop modernly, civilizedly, worthy of the central position of Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc also expressed his belief that the new Secretary of the Saigon Ward Party Committee will continue to promote his capacity and experience, successfully complete the assigned tasks, and contribute to building Saigon Ward into a model ward of the city.
Speaking to receive the assignment, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong thanked the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and the leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for their constant concern and creation of conditions for him to complete his tasks in his previous positions.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong said that he will seriously absorb the directing opinions of city leaders, and at the same time commits to the Executive Committee of the Saigon Ward Party Committee, cadres, party members and the business community in the area to unite and strive to complete and exceed the targets set by the 1st Ward Party Congress.
