On August 15, the Cat Lai Ward Party Committee held the 1st Congress of Delegates for the 2025 - 2030 term. Attending and giving a speech was Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.
Speaking at the congress, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that Cat Lai ward possesses a strategic location, modern transport infrastructure and a combination of logistics centers with the orientation of becoming an "urban axis - smart port".
This will be an advantage for the locality to make an important contribution to the development of Ho Chi Minh City, especially in the logistics and trade - service sectors.
The development of Cat Lai port not only brings in large revenues but also promotes supporting industries such as warehouses, transportation, commercial services, etc., thereby turning Cat Lai into an ideal destination for businesses, Mr. Nghi emphasized.
From this orientation, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee requested the ward to continue upgrading technical infrastructure, developing the transportation system connecting Cat Lai - Phu Huu port - Cat Lai industrial park and urban area; at the same time, synchronously deploy solutions to promote economic growth.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on improving the quality and scale of enterprises, supporting digital transformation, attracting investment in high-value trade - service sectors; strongly developing the private economy as an important driving force for growth.
Regarding Party building work, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nghi suggested that the ward continue to effectively implement the 2-level local government model, innovate thinking, vision, working style, always respect the people, be close to the people, understand the people and serve the people.
It is necessary to improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization, the quality of the team of cadres and Party members, build a team "both rosy and specialized", with enough heart, talent, trust, and responsibility to the people.
At the same time, the ward must regularly review and evaluate the quality of cadres and civil servants; focus on training and fostering so that each cadre and civil servant has a strong political stance, pure public ethics, good expertise, and proficient in technology.
The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee also emphasized that, along with economic and infrastructure development, Cat Lai must consider culture - society as the spiritual foundation, the endogenous driving force for sustainable development.
The locality needs to pay special attention to comprehensive human development, improving the quality of education and health care, taking care of social security, ensuring that all people enjoy the fruits of development.
