Present at Lang Nu village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province - where the terrible landslide occurred, causing 95 people to die and go missing, Mr. Tran Cam Tu praised the local agencies and forces for their efforts in rescue, relief and damage recovery.
The delegation also deeply sympathized with the losses of the people and the Party Committee and government of Bao Yen district.
Up to now, 42 victims have been found; the search for 53 missing people is being carried out actively, quickly, and carefully to ensure the safety of the search force.
Reporting on the damage caused by storm No. 3, Mr. Dang Xuan Phong, Secretary of Lao Cai Provincial Party Committee, said that 6 out of 9 districts, towns and cities of the province had people killed; 89 people died, 83 people were missing; 70 people were injured.
Agricultural damage was about 2,800 hectares of rice and 700 hectares of crops; about 7,500 households were affected in housing, of which more than half were severely affected.
Initial total damage statistics for Lao Cai province are about 3,000 billion VND, with Bao Yen alone accounting for nearly 400 billion VND.
The Lao Cai Provincial Party Secretary proposed that the Central Government share and encourage the Party Committee, government and localities of the province; provide immediate support for Lao Cai to overcome the consequences, ensuring stable life and production for people in flooded areas.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Tran Cam Tu requested that the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations at all levels of Lao Cai province focus on overcoming the consequences of floods with the highest determination; promptly support and care for the injured; visit and encourage families of those who died or were injured. In particular, speed up the search for buried victims and support timely burial.
Pay attention to supporting food for affected families, preventing hunger; mobilize all forces to support house repairs and environmental sanitation.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Central Inspection Committee presented gifts to a number of affected households in Lang Nu village and presented 2.7 billion VND in support from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and a number of agencies and units to Bao Yen district.
