On the afternoon of October 2, the Can Tho City Party Committee held a meeting of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term I, 2025 - 2030.
At the Conference, the Can Tho City Party Committee unanimously introduced Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen - Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, for the People's Council to elect him as Chairman of the City People's Committee, term 2021 - 2026.
According to the plan, tomorrow (October 3), the People's Council of Can Tho City will meet to elect the Chairman of the City People's Committee.
Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was born in 1969, hometown in Yen Phuong commune, Thieu Yen district, Thanh Hoa province. He is a cadre who grew up from the grassroots, trained with a Master's degree in Economics and Senior Political Theory.
Mr. Tuyen has held many different positions in Can Tho province (before 2004) and Hau Giang province (before the merger) such as: Deputy Director of the Department of Finance of Hau Giang province; Chief of Office of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee; Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee (Hau Giang province); Permanent Vice Chairman of Hau Giang Provincial People's Committee.
On February 10, 2025, the Secretariat issued a Decision on the transfer and appointment of Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen to join the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2020 - 2025.
On February 20, 2025, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was elected by the People's Council of Can Tho City, term X, 2021 - 2026, to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.
In July 2025, after merging 3 localities (Can Tho, Hau Giang and old Soc Trang) into the new Can Tho City, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen held the position of Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.
